Our Experience
We intentionally saved Steamers for our final dinner in Chincoteague, hoping to end the trip on a high note.
It exceeded every expectation.
The meal started with a dozen local steamed clams that reminded me why I fell in love with New England seafood growing up around Boston. They were fresh, sweet, and completely free of grit. I paired them with a local Assateague IPA, which complemented the seafood perfectly.
The crab cakes were exactly what you hope to find on the Eastern Shore. Nearly all sweet lump crab meat with just enough binder to hold everything together. No unnecessary filler. Just outstanding crab.
My wife enjoyed her crab cake sandwich, while my mother ordered the New England clam chowder and the Southwestern salad with blackened chicken. By the end of the meal, all three of us agreed this was the best restaurant we visited during our entire stay.
George, our server, elevated an already excellent meal. His recommendations were thoughtful, his enthusiasm genuine, and he never made us feel rushed despite it being one of the busiest weeks of the year. Later we learned his family owns the restaurant, which explained the pride he took in every table. Before leaving, I made a point of telling his mother, who had seated us, what a terrific job he was doing. Her smile said everything.
We also appreciated the opportunity to contribute to the restaurant's Biscuits for a Cause fundraiser. Supporting businesses that invest back into their community always feels like money well spent.
For about $125 including tax and our donation, three of us enjoyed fresh local seafood, chowder, a large salad with blackened chicken, a local craft beer, and one of the most memorable meals of our trip.
