Weekend Getaways

You don't need a passport, two weeks off, or an elaborate itinerary to have a memorable travel experience.

Sometimes it's a concert in another city, a weekend at the beach, a restaurant you've been wanting to try, or simply an excuse to get away from the usual routine.

A night or two away can be just what you need.

Here you'll find firsthand experiences from short trips we've taken ourselves. We'll share where we stayed, what we did, where we ate, what we spent, and what we'd do differently. The good, the disappointing, and the occasional unexpected surprise.

Because even a short getaway deserves a little thoughtful planning, without planning every minute of the fun out of it.

A bucket-list concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre brought us to Colorado for a much-needed long weekend. We splurged on great seats, kept the rest of the trip simple, and found time to explore Lookout Mountain, Buffalo Bill's museum, and the scenery toward Breckenridge.
